About

My Story

In 2008, I moved to the United States, stepping into a new life without a car, job, or social support network. It was a difficult and isolating experience, but my landlord, Judy, became a beacon of hope. She guided me around the neighborhood, provided support when I needed it most, and made me feel at home. Over time, however, I noticed subtle changes in her behavior—forgetfulness and confusion that became more frequent. Eventually, I learned that Judy had Alzheimer’s disease.

Watching her struggle with cognitive decline left a profound impact on me. It sparked my desire to help people like Judy—those who may be experiencing early signs of cognitive impairment but are unaware of it. I realized that early detection could give families more time to adjust, plan, and make lifestyle changes that could slow the progression of such conditions. This experience led to the creation of Yohocare, a platform dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for seniors.

My mission became even more personal when my husband’s father was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. This further reinforced my commitment to using technology to support seniors, improve their quality of life, and provide families with the tools they need to navigate these challenges.

Professional Journey

To enhance my ability to create meaningful and effective solutions for seniors, I pursued an Interdisciplinary Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at UC Berkeley. This experience deepened my understanding of best practices in public health, which I have applied to refine Yohocare’s approach. By integrating these insights, I ensure that Yohocare provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services, addressing the diverse needs of seniors and empowering them to prioritize their health and well-being.

With a background in research and teaching, I have gained valuable insights into the unique challenges that seniors face. This expertise has been crucial in designing Yohocare using a human-centered approach, ensuring that our solutions are practical, user-friendly, and tailored to each individual's needs. I am passionate about addressing the growing challenges of aging, and I believe technology can be a powerful tool in empowering older adults to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

In addition to my work with Yohocare, I have had the privilege of advocating for senior care solutions within my community. I served as an Aging 2.0 Ambassador in Sunnyvale, a member of the Age-friendly Community Advisory Group, and a member of the Digital Inclusion Workgroup in Santa Clara County. In these roles, I collaborated with community leaders to champion tech-driven solutions that improve the lives of seniors, helping to shape policies and programs that have a lasting impact. Although my work in these roles has concluded, the insights and experiences I gained continue to inspire my mission at Yohocare.

Mission

My mission is simple: to create meaningful, innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life for seniors, empowering them to live their best lives, regardless of age or health status. Through Yohocare, I aim to bridge the gap between technology and senior care, providing tools that help seniors stay physically and mentally sharp while detecting early signs of cognitive decline.

At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to supporting not only seniors but also their families. Through both Yohocare and my nonprofit initiatives, I strive to offer personalized, accessible services that are culturally relevant and responsive to the diverse needs of older adults. My ultimate goal is to ensure that every senior has the opportunity to age with dignity, health, and purpose, supported by technology that truly understands and meets their needs.
